The Watchman Trail In Zion National Park

The Watchman Trail takes off near the main campgrounds in Zion National Park, so it makes for a great short hike to do as an ‘extra’. It wouldn’t make my top couple of hikes in Zion because it has to compete with Angels Landing and The Narrows, as well as so many others. But it does bear mentioning because the scenery really is great, and you almost always have a partial day to fill when you’re traveling....

Tropical Passion Berry Smoothie

Before I go the grocery store, I usually sit down and draw up a basic meal plan and grocery list. But every week some of that planning goes right out the window when I get to the grocery store. I change my mind a lot based on what’s actually available, what’s on sale, and spur of the moment impulse purchases. Passion fruit has been my latest of impulse buys, I’m not used to seeing anything quite so exotic in our small town, so I just couldn’t resist....

Best Vegan Queso

I feel like trying to use words to tell you how good dairy-free queso is kind of a tough sell! But if I could just pass you one of these chips loaded with queso, guacamole, and pico, you wouldn’t need any words at all. But since photos don’t have a scratch-and-sniff option, (haha wouldn’t that be fun?) you’ll have to just trust me on this one. I won’t sit here and tell you this dairy-free queso beats the real thing, I’m not that crazy!...

Devil S Thumb Scramble In Banff National Park

The Devil’s Thumb Scramble starts from the popular hike to the beehive above the Lake Agnes Teahouse in Banff National Park. There are several phenomenal hikes you can do in this area, and all of them offer great views. The first time we spent some time in Banff we did both the Plain of Six Glaciers Teahouse and the Lake Agnes Teahouse hike on separate days. What we didn’t know is there’s a trail that connects the 2 hikes called the Highline Trail....

Grain Free Pizzadillas

If you’re like me and new to this concept it goes like this: pizza + quesadilla = pizzadilla. So it’s basically just a quesadilla with pizza ingredients as the filling. The version that inspired my grain free version is from Delish because they go a little above and beyond with theirs. Instead of just putting the pizza ingredients between 2 tortillas, they also put pizza ingredients right on the top....

Greek Salad

The freshest ingredients always make simple salads shine. I used small tomatoes, so I cut them into wedges. If you use cherry tomatoes, cut them in half. For salads, I like to keep the vegetables to bite sized pieces for ease of eating. Cut the cucumber into quarters and then thinly slice them crosswise to make small triangles. I like to buy feta cheese in the brine when I can get it because it taste better than the pre-crumbled variety....

Homemade Moisturizing Mint Body Wash

I don’t really know why it’s taken me so long to make another body wash recipe. But ever since I first did this Grapefruit Ginger Body Wash, I haven’t made another one. It could have something to do with selling our house – then moving – then the crazy process of building. You know what… that’s probably it! Making body wash, and my even skin care products took a bit of a backseat over the last couple of years....

Honey Sriracha Shrimp Sushi Bowls

This recipe is perfect for anyone who loves sushi but is wary of handling raw seafood at home. I live in a land locked state where fresh seafood can be hard to come by. So I prefer to make my sushi bowls with cooked seafood or fish. Another favorite way to make them is with fruits and veggies like these Mango Sushi Bowls. But usually I keep it on the mild side when I make them with seafood so the flavors with wasabi can really shine....

Mango Blackberry Kombucha Mocktail

You all really loved my Summer Strawberry Mocktail, so today I’m back with this Blackberry Mango version! I’ve been having lots of fun this summer combining different flavors of kombucha with Spindrift. You can use any flavored sparkling water you’d like, we just love Spindrift because they’re completely natural, (with no natural flavors added). Once you start flavor combining, it’s hard to stop for sure! Mostly we’ve been mixing like with like....

Raspberry Smoothie

The inspiration for this raspberry smoothie started with a box of decadent Medjool dates. It’s a bit of a long story, but the short version is that my mom met someone who runs a dates farm down south in her travels. I often sweeten my smoothies with a little bit of banana. But as we all know, bananas have a way of stealing the show in the flavor department! So for a true, pure raspberry flavor I like to add pitted Medjool dates to the smoothie....

The Grand Canyon Of Yellowstone

The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone National Park is definitely awe inspiring. The water literally roars as it crashes over the cliffs into the canyon below! There are a couple of vantage points to view this canyon, and each one offers a unique view. We did the trails on both sides of the canyon, and we really enjoyed both. When we got home, we realized we missed the usual view that everyone photographs from Artist’s Point, (next time I guess)!...

Zion Park Scenic Byway

We love taking scenic byways whenever we can! Not only do you see a ton of fantastic scenery, but scenic byways also make for a good activity to do whenever you’re having a rest day in between bigger hikes. We were a little thrashed after our super long (and magnificent) day hiking in The Narrows, (post coming soon) so we decided take it easy for the day and go for a drive....
